New Mexico Mule Deer Hunting
Great Opportunities for Mule Deer
Grey Ghost Outdoors NM offers great opportunists for mule deer hunts. The hunts take place on rugged terrain at altitudes between 6,500 feet and 8,000 feet. The hunts may take place with 4x4 or side-by-side vehicles with spotting and stalking being the primary means of hunting. Mule deer can be skittish creatures leaving for a wild adversary. Patience is required to find that big ol' buck.

Mule deer numbers have been down in the past due to drought and increased predators. Large herds of deer are unlikely. Common sizes range around 8 to a herd. There are still many mule deer bucks to find and numbers seem to be on the upswing.

The price for this hunt is for five days (plus license). This includes lunch's, full guide service, field preparation of the meat, skinning caping and tax.

To hunt on private land only, hunters must obtain a Private-land Only Deer License and tag—available online www.wildlife.state.nm.us, by telephone, from license vendors or at New Mexico Department of Game and Fish offices. Online and telephone purchases must be made at least 14 days prior to hunt start date to allow mailing of tags, unless the E-Tag option is chosen. When obtaining a Private-land Only Deer License, the hunter must select a hunt code which corresponds with a Deer-Draw Hunt Code for the unit, bag limit, sporting arm type and season date. If the hunter is a nonresident and selects a corresponding Deer-Draw Hunt Code designated as Quality (Q), she/he must purchase a Quality Deer License.
